Brightwave wins Immersive/Learning Simulation award at DevLearn DemoFest

Brightwave have had a decisive win at DevLearn DemoFest awards in Las Vegas!  We came first in the Immersive / Simulation category for our NRM bar learning simulation with Diageo.

The e-learning Guild’s annual DevLearn event is the largest, most innovative Learning Technologies event in the US. DevLearn’s comprehensive program is dedicated to sharing tools, ideas, strategies, and best practices to explore how technology can support learning and development. As a result it is the primary forum for conversations that shape the future of organizational learning and performance.

DevLearn’s most valuable feature about is the way they find different, challenging and dynamic ways of assessing, exhibiting and awarding the world’s best e-Learning solutions.

Chief among these is DemoFest.

Held annually, DemoFest requires entrants to submit their latest and greatest e-Learning solutions to a rigorous pre-assessment process. On the night itself, qualifying entrants set up live demos in the ballroom of the world-famous Mirage Hotel Las Vegas. For two hours a non-stop stream of judges puts them through their paces in the most intensive assessment process of its kind.

DemoFest is judged by DevLearn attendees. This open, peer-led appraisal by experienced e-Learning Guild members and allied professionals is unique in L&D. Consequently, they are without doubt the most qualified people in the world to appraise the quality and innovation of the work.

About the winner

Diageo’s Net Revenue Management (NRM) solution asks the question Who can run the most profitable bar? It uses authentic retail information to let learners find out for themselves.

NRM is a gamified learning simulation combining real data with fun, competitive scenarios and clear learning outcomes. With a cutting-edge game engine, learning design and art direction, it also creates a realistic, safe-to-fail environment for cross-functional teams from Sales, Marketing & Finance to experiment with different strategies, hone skills, and gain experience.

The solution is currently in action across  20 markets, and provides a safe space to put theory into practice and ensure learning sticks. Above all it’s a fun, energetic way to digest new, complex content, encouraging experimentation and replay. The simulation increases knowledge retention and innovation, while showing cross-functional teams how individual actions affect business performance.

NRM is a deserved winner of this year’s DemoFest Immersive/Simulation Award. This also marks the third DemoFest award for Brightwave and Diageo, having won two for their  Bar Academy solution in 2015.
